Welcome

Welcome to the Top-o-the-Cake website, a place to get one of a kind cake toppers and other small sculptures. Each unique piece is a blend of your imagination (infinite), the capabilities of polymer clay (considerable) and Top-o–the-Cake craftsmanship.

There are many beautiful ready-made toppers available but if you’re planning a Renaissance wedding or would like the couple on the cake to match the couple at the altar in colors and style then TotC may be the option you’re looking for. If you met in Las Vegas then a couple taking a chance together at the slots might be a possibility. Or if during your romantic riverside picnic was when you knew he was the one maybe that moment belongs on your cake. I had a non-traditional topper and have been married over 25 years. That may not be the reason but why take chances?

The primary medium at TotC is polymer clay. It is versatile modeling clay that accepts a wide range of coatings from natural to stone to bronze to psychedelic spatter painting. Treated with normal care the topper will commemorate your special event for many years.

In the end it’s about getting you a topper that reflects you and your wedding. So please enjoy the gallery but don’t let it limit your ideas. Think about what truly reflects you and then fire off that email to TotC. Thank-you for stopping by and

More pages
I'm thinking about splitting the wedding page into human and non-human pages. Also, creating seperate bobble and whimsey pages. Would people rather click or scrool?

New Additions
Posted several new pieces one of which is featured on the front page. It's a wedding cake topper for an incredibly patient couple in New York. Lots of interesting things on that one as we included the family pets and career related elements for both of them. Best wishes to them on their special day.

On the whimsies page are a pair of bobble heads for two hockey star brothers. Bobbles are just a hoot to do and I'm always pleased when the head rock well. Since each head is unique it is always a bit of a roll of the dice.

Also, on the whimsey page are two pieces done for a Halloween art show (yes, updating is horribly behind). One is a werewolf toddler who would like to be picked up but comes with written warning. The other is a multimedia work using poly clay and digital graphics to create a fake book in an old pulp style. These were done for my own amusement rather than for a customer.

Time flies
It's been an embarassingly long time since updating here. Honest, this is still a going concern. I'll be putting up more photos of completed works over the next few days and if you'd like to drop me a line about a project that would be cool too.
